Meet the Artist

Lucinda Hamilton

I paint because it’s the truest way I know to quiet the noise. My inner world has always been shaped by small stories, tender details, and the kind of noticing that most people walk past. The places I paint are the ones that anchor me, whether it’s the coastline of Maine or my backyard garden. I paint these locations like characters with their own inner lives.

I grew up in a home where making things was our family love language. My mom sewed our clothes and made quilts, my dad built furniture on weekends and baked bread, and my sister loved to draw. Beauty wasn’t decoration: it was care and attention. It was love made visible. My paintings carry that lineage. They hold the steadiness of a happy childhood, the safety of being supported and the freedom to explore, observe, and think deeply.

Today my work is shaped by a different kind of noticing, between raising a young daughter and rediscovering childhood wonder through her eyes, and facing the reality of aging parents and family. Those two forces together have given my recent work a new emotional depth, where I paint to remember and hold on to what time tries to take. I paint to feel and stay present.

The world right now feels loud and overstimulated and my art comes from a quieter frequency. It reflects curiosity, gentleness, and the belief that small moments matter. It’s the emotional counterweight to a culture that moves too fast. It’s the place where I make sense of things.

If my work speaks to your own need for steadiness, a reminder to you to slow down and notice what’s real, or if it reconnects you to memory, place, or the simple rituals that make a life meaningful, then I invite you to collect a piece that resonates with your story. Bring one of these quiet worlds home.
